fan brush beauty

A fan brush is one of the most practical makeup tool essentials around. It's often used to apply a setting powder for a soft-focus, weightless kind of finish, but that's not the only reason this multitasking makeup brush is so great. See five other reasons you might want to become a fan of the fan brush, just keep reading.

Mistake eraser: By design, a fan brush fans away product. So if your powdered makeup products (especially eye shadow) are leaving flecks behind, a light swipe of the fan brush can easily wipe away the excess.
Blusher/bronzer: If you want just a sheer touch of blush or bronzer on your cheeks — or you tend to have a heavy hand when it comes to makeup — a fan brush will enable you to create a softer look. In turn, use the brush's flat shape to assist in contouring where needed.
Powder foundation: Get a more precise powder foundation application when using a fan brush.
Diffuser of color: Break out that fan brush to blend out harsh lines or to create new shades with your powder cosmetics. Tip: use it with darker shades to tone them down or with a highlighter to provide a luminous effect.
Skin care applier: Make a mask or peel go on all the more smoothly with a fan brush. Better yet, you'll get nice coverage without using a lot of product.

Have you ever heard of a fan brush that is specifically for mascara? They’re teensy, tiny brushes, made with stiff acrylic bristles that deliver quite a punch when it comes to mascara application.

You can use these brushes to apply mascara, and also to separate your lashes after applying it with a traditional wand. These types of brushes are really handy because they allow you to place mascara alllll the way at the root of your lashes, giving the appearance of volume where it is most needed.
To apply mascara, simply sweep  your wand onto the brush a few times. You can always add more mascara to the  brush if neededl

Then place the brush at the base of the lashes and wiggle out the wand!

Mascara fan brushes are excellent for cleaning up the top of the lashes. You know how it goes when you do a little shadow touch up only to find your shadow all over your lashes!

No mascara on the left eye for comparison.
Cleaning the fan brushes can be a pain, since you must do this after every application. I keep a bottle of brush cleanser handy and that usually does the trick!
Macara fan brushes are by no means a necessity in your brush roll, but they’re fun to use .
Bonus tip, they are great to use after applying false eyelashes to help integrate the false lashes in with your reguilar lashes!
